RTE's Operation Transformation leaders lose an incredible 12 stone between them

A total of 12 stone was lost between the five leaders on Operation Transformation this year.

Viewers were left in tears last night during the emotional grand finale of the hit RTE show.

After eight weeks of mental, physical and emotional challenges, the group strutted their stuff on the catwalk to show off their hard work.

This year’s dieters were made up of Andrea Christopher Rea, 31, husband Barry, 39, Lorraine O’Neill, 46, Shane Farrell, 29, and 33-year-old Tanya Carroll.

And the cherry on top of their impressive weight loss happened when Tanya’s boyfriend Mark proposed to her on the catwalk.

Presenter Kathryn Thomas said: “On the finale show we’ll see what eight weeks of commitment, determination and sheer hard work looks like.

“Over the last two months we’ve followed five extraordinary people on their journey towards better health.”

The episode kicked off with the final 5k run in the capital’s Phoenix Park on Saturday, where the crowds came out in their droves to support the leaders during their final hurdle.

Dad-of-four Shane Farrell was hailed a “role model to the younger generation” for conquering his nerves.

He was first out on the catwalk, showing off his loss of 2st 13lbs.

He said: “OT has saved Shane, it brought Shane back. The biggest thing was prioritising my family, which I wasn’t doing.

“It was all work, work, work and look, life is for living and I’m going to start living my life.”

For the first time ever a married couple took part in Operation Transformation and their weight loss was incredible.

Barry shed 3st 7lbs off his frame over eight weeks while wife Andrea dropped 2st 5lbs.

He said: “I don’t think I’d have been able for the weight loss without her [Andrea], it’s very much a team plan.”

Devoted mum Lorraine shed 11lbs and added: “I am not stopping this and if it’s a slow journey, so be it.”

Finally, Cork mum Tanya dropped 1st 8lbs.
