Keelin Shanley first met her husband Conor Ferguson when they were both teenage goths, the late RTE presenter once revealed in an interview.
The couple bumped into each other Grafton Street and shared a similar interest in music.
However, their romance didn't begin until Keelin returned from her studies in Italy almost a decade later.
And they went on to get married in the year 2000, RSVP Live reports.
"I have known Conor since I was 14. He was one of the goths around Grafton Street and I thought he looked pretty fantastic with this hair all sticking up," she told the RTE Guide.
"Of course, I wasn't going out with him since I was 14- that happened after I came back from Italy- but we go back a long way."
In the unearthed interview, she added: "Of course, I was a goth too but then everyone was a Goth in the Eighties! Were you not a goth? We listened to The Cure and The Smiths and Bauhaus and all that.
"I was always fond of Conor but it was years later before we started going out properly."
Keelin and Conor went on to start a family and they welcomed two children, Lucy who is aged 13 and 11-year-old Ben.
She admitted that mother completely changed her and it changed how she looked at life.
"I love being a mother," she said.
"Motherhood so fundamentally changes your life. It gives you a whole different perspective on things, that there is a greater purpose to life, not to sound too holier than thou. I am lucky too in that my dad is fantastic with the kids.
"He lives just round the corner within distance. It is nice because sometimes before I collect the children from school we go a for a walk on Dun Laoghaire pier to catch up.
"I am very close to my father. I would ask him for advice and he has a sound head."
