RTE's Kathryn Thomas pens emotional tribute to former Operation Transformation leader Sarah O'Callaghan after sad passing

Kathryn Thomas has penned an emotional tribute to former Operation Transformation leader Sarah O'Callaghan after her sad passing.

Sarah, who appeared on the show in 2018, tragically died last week after a battle with cancer.

In an emotional tribute, host Kathryn shared a number of pictures with Sarah during her time on the show and hailed her as "one of a kind".

"RIP gorgeous girl,” she said.

“Even the strongest fighter in the world can only fight so long.

"There’s a phrase that goes 'she’s not behind the door in telling you how she feels!!'

"Every time someone says a version of it I always think of you and it makes me smile.

"Always shooting from the hip.

“Always up for the craic and so fiercely loyal, loving and protective over your family who you adored so much.

"You were an incredible OT ambassador......And I think everyone will agree.

“She’s one of a kind... the kindest one of a kind.

“Sleep well beautiful".

Earlier this week, Kathryn opened up about how Sarah's death "floored" her and the OT team behind the scenes last week.

She said: "It was a week that was very difficult for lots of different reasons but we lost an amazing girl last week Sarah O'Callaghan.

"She was a leader on Operation Transformation in 2018 and she lost a long battle with cancer on Tuesday but it floored us to be honest.

"We were on set this weekend and it was very difficult.

"She was just a brilliant person, a great fighter, a great mother and just too young to die."

Sarah is survived by her husband, Gary, her daughter Amelia, her parents Karl and Iris and her brother Karl.
