RTE's Kathryn Thomas kept baby news a secret for 20 weeks

RTE star Kathryn Thomas didn't tell anyone she was pregnant until after her 20 week scan.

The RTÉ presenter felt anxious about the news so she and her husband Padraig McLoughlin decided to keep it to themselves for as long as they could.

With lockdown restrictions in place, the Carlow presenter found it easier to hide her bump.

Kathryn, who has previously opened up on having miscarriages before conceiving baby Ellie, said this time round the anxiety is still there, but she’s more relaxed.

Kathryn and Padraig welcomed their baby girl Ellie into the world in 2018 and got married in a lavish ceremony in Kilkea Castle in the summer of 2019.

Kathryn is due to give birth again in early November and is showcasing her incredible pregnancy workouts on Instagram.

Kathryn, 42, told VIP Magazine: "For us to have this opportunity to have a second child, we do not take it lightly at all. But I'm definitely more relaxed this time".

"Last time I was very much rabbit in headlights. I was so anxious and everything felt momentous considering all we had gone through.

"I was so anxious and everything felt momentous considering all we had gone through. This is by no means any less momentous but I just feel more secure".

The Pure Results boss added: "This time we only told people after our 20-week scan, but last time I had to break the news earlier because I was out and about. But covid sorted that!"

Commenting on Sile Seoige’s documentary, the Operation Transformation star said it was brave of Sile to open up on her own struggles with fertility in her TG4 documentary earlier this year.

She said: "I think it's a very positive thing that women are now more open about their fertility and child loss journeys and, I think the documentary Síle did was so amazing, and so brave, because I knew what she was going through at the time.

"I knew she was pregnant and she knew I was pregnant in the early days. We had each other's ear!

"So, I was so proud of her, because that was a difficult documentary to make. I thought it was so inspiring because it was so honest."
