RTE reporter Tony Connelly brilliantly snapped deceiving cameras while live on air

RTE's well-known reporter Tony Connelly has been brilliantly snapped deceiving cameras while speaking live on TV.

The Europe editor was pictured while doing a piece to camera in Brussels showing something viewers at home couldn't see.

While those tuning in could see the usual smart shirt and tie, the reporter was actually wearing shorts and sandals underneath.

And understandably so, the man who took the picture said it was 28C in the area.

Anthony Zacharzewski said: "From earlier this evening: top half is 'a to-camera from outside the Berlaymont'; bottom half is 'its 28° in Brussels at 7pm'."

After being tagged in the post a number of times the RTE reporter simply replied "guilty".

People praised the "legend" for the move as many viewers chimed in that they never would have known.

Anthony, who tweeted the picture first, apologised in case he caused any embarrassment but Mr Connelly appeared to take it all in his stride.

Anthony added: "I hadn't realized the subject of the photo would be so easy to recognize from this shot.

"Apologies to him for any unintended embarrassment. If you have seen who it is, do yourself a favor by subscribing to his excellent podcast."
