RTE Reeling In The Years 2010 missing one vital moment as viewers puzzled by omission

We think it's a fair statement to make that the whole country was glued to their television screens from 8:30pm on Sunday night.

It's not often you have to wait a decade to start the next series of one of the greatest shows but thus is the only con to RTE's reminiscent Reeling In The Years.

It didn't disappoint. It started exactly how we thought it would with "the fella slipping on the ice" kickstarting the half hour feast of the busy year that was 2010.

And boy was that a tough year and rough start to the decade.

Deaths, bailouts, Celtic Tiger busting. There was no argument that it was a jam packed year.

But some viewers were puzzled by one omission as a vital event was left on the cutting room floor from 2010.

If you're from Meath or Louth, it's either your highlight or lowlight of the decade depending on which side of the fence you sit.

Just in case you need a reminder, seconds from a historic Leinster Final win, Meath's Joe Sheridan bundled the ball into the net using his hands scoring a goal that would be the subject of several inches of paper for the rest of summer that year.

But Joe's ghost goal didn't get a look in as the GAA section just featured the usual All-Ireland Finals sequences.

One said: "Meath Louth 2010 controversy not mentioned on #ReelingInTheYears tonight. Not dramatic enough?"

Another added: "Are Meath people happy or sad that the Leinster Final win* of 2010 was left out?"

A third commented: "Reeling in the Years 2010 - No mention of Leinster Final? Glaring omission no matter what your perspective on it is."
