RTE pundit Richie Sadlier has shared an update from hospital after undergoing a spinal fusion surgery.
The popular TV figure and ex-footballer went under the knife after dealing with long term back pain issues.
And thankfully everything went well for the 42-year-old with Sadlier sharing a snap from the Mater Private Hospital and was all smiles after the major surgery.
Sharing a snap while on a wheelchair, Sadlier gave a thumbs up to the camera and shared a message saying that he is recovering well.
He said: "Spinal fusion surgery is a right laugh. Big hugs to all the staff taking such good care of me here in the @materprivate. Recovering really well so far x"
Sadlier had to retire from football through injury and recently revealed that he will now be side-lined from work for three months after undergoing the major operation..
Speaking to the Irish Times, he recently said: “I’m due to have spinal fusion surgery . . . I’ve had problems with my back since I’m a teenager.
"This is obviously the last resort. I’ve gone through all the checklist of all the things you would do to try and alleviate or manage or get rid of back pain and none of them have been successful.
"So I’ve to bite the bullet now and have surgery on the last day of the month. I’m running around trying to get my affairs in order, because I can’t work for three months.
“I’m hoping that by the summer, I’ll be pain-free for the first time since childhood."
