RTE listeners praise Joe Duffy for two hilarious quotes during heated Liveline debates

RTE's Joe Duffy was moderating some more heated debates on Friday's liveline as a number of callers went toe-to-toe.

Squirrels were the subject of one segment of the show with a caller claiming they are highly dangerous while another argued they are harmless and should be left alone.

RTE stalwart Joe was in between the battle of opinions and to the humour of listeners had a few great lines to roll out.

One listener tweeted: "The squirrels aren't going to become domesticated that quickly. You give them nuts one week and the next week they're looking for Netflix?" @joeliveline needs to be protected at all costs."

While Joe's official account responded: "We thought his 'so squirrels are just rats who went to Trinity College' was slightly funnier."

The radio host was in his usual form for another fiery episode ahead of the weekend.

The other big talking point was caller Anthony leaving his golf bag beside a clothes bank in a recycling centre only to be later fined €150.

The man maintained he was penalised for trying to recycle and that he was not dumping illegally.

Liveline airs every weekday afternoon at 1:45pm on RTE Radio One.
