Listeners who tuned into Today with Claire Byrne on RTE Radio got a bit of a surprise as the host got her rocks on to some classics by Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and Slayer.
The show has been running a segment every week which Claire says will introduce audiences to music they thought they wouldn't have been previously interested in.
Fittingly, after Italy stormed to Eurovision glory, this week's genre was heavy metal.
Claire spoke with Richie Duhig of The Metal Cell Podcast, who pointed out that though most people believe they don't like heavy metal, there will be one song that they'll be tapping their foot too.
What followed was a glorious 15 minutes of radio.
And listeners were enthralled by the discussion.
One tweeted: "Angel Of Death on Claire Byrne Live haha, gas richie is a legend" while another added "'listening to Claire Byrne trying to like Slayer. What is happening?"
A third chimed in with "Listening to heavy metal on Claire Byrne. It's Friday all right." while another asked "Has Claire Byrne gone mad, heavy metal.....angel of death.....love it.."
Another said "Claire Byrne saying 'will we have listen to Children of the Grave, by Black Sabbath?' and feigning interest, is my radio moment if the week so far.
Not everyone was impressed, mind.
One disgruntled user said "Any sort of lighthearted content that Claire Byrne covers on her radio show she makes out that she’s massively out of touch with it no matter what the topic and makes stupid mum jokes. No need for it..."
