Much like he did after those famous gigs in The Point during his time at Oasis, Noel Gallagher made an appearance on the Late Late Show as Ryan Tubridy chatted with the guitarist about his stellar career.
With a new album to promote, the guitarist was in flying form as he talked about some of his most famous moments and that point he scored in Croke Park!
To begin the chat, Tubridy asked the leader of the High Flying Birds about his Mayo mother, Peggy.
"She's great, they have opened the swimming baths, so she's fine now. I've been having the same conversation with her for a year which goes like this: 'Hi Mam' 'Hiya Noely' 'How are you doing?' 'Ah sure I'm alright' ' What are you doing today?' ' Nothing at all'. 'Shall I call you tomorrow?' 'Ah go on!"

"I've been having that for a year, but she's OK now. They have opened the swimming baths so she can go swimming three days a week - she's fine now, she's in good form," said Gallagher.
As fans of the musician will know, Peggy has the patience of a saint as she frequently shrugs off the rivalry between her two sons.
After Oasis began to make it big, Noel did offer to buy his mother a huge house but ever humble, she refused for a very particular reason.
"We offered to buy her a house but where we are from in Manchester, she's got 7 sisters and 5 of them all live within about a 15-minute walk of each other, so she wasn't going to move. The one thing that she requested was, we had a garden gate which was really squeaky and she said 'if you could just change the gate'. We bought her a brand-new gate with a gold No5 on it, and she was happy as Larry after that," said Noel.
Later in the conversation, the talented musician chatted about the legacy of his music, why his songs continue to resonate with new audiences, the halcyon days of Oasis and his childhood watching Irish showbands in Manchester.
However, one anecdote about his friendship with U2 and doing karaoke with Bono was quite interesting.

"I was a fan of U2 from very early on. When we played in Slane castle with REM I think Adam Clayton came, and then we met them at an awards ceremony really early on and we became friends ever since. My kids are friends with their kids and they all go on holiday and we have all been on holiday with them, Going on tour with them a couple of years ago was great. Not that I remember a great deal about it but apparently it was great.
"They do throw some of the greatest parties on tour that I have ever been to. One memory is they were having some big party, me and Bono were doing karaoke and we did a duet of Kung Fu fighting, I have to say, he murdered it ...I was great (laughs).
After the interview ended, some viewers were delighted to see Peggy Gallagher getting a fair amount of screentime.
"Weak!! Noel Gallagher's Mam got him his first guitar from Kay's catalogue," and "Peggy Gallagher is such a legend" were some of the comments made by viewers who have an awful lot of grà for the Mayo woman.

"Noel Gallagher absolutely mind blowing on the #LateLateShow Sublime, superior, unparalleled. Magic," "So lovely to hear the pure #Irish pride from Noel. Absolutely brilliant tune. You're welcome back here to Mayo anytime" were remakrs made by viewers.
Noel's childhood that was spent watching Irish showbands definitely resonated with one viewer saying: "Can you believe it, Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame used to go and see Big Tom and The Mainliners!!"
However, some viewers and Oasis fans felt that some of the questions asked by Tubridy covered old ground, like the guitarist's decision to attend a meeting with Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street and more.
"Did you know Noel Gallagher was Irish? I think Ryan Tubridy should ask him" and "I’m pretty sure Tubs asked Noel the same questions the last time he was on. Do ya like the GAA? Do ya know Bono? Do you like coming to Ireland? Do ya still not like Liam?," were comments that were also made.
