RTE Late Late Toy Show advert music performed by Bangor band The Darkling Air

A Northern Irish band has provided the soundtrack to the heartwarming advert for this year’s RTE Late Late Toy show.

The hugely popular show hosted by Ryan Tubridy is a staple in Irish households every year, bringing together the latest toys, special guests and plenty of surprises.

The advertisement for the show was released on Friday night and features the story of a young girl, Eva, who is stuck at home and worried about how she can watch this year’s show with her friends.

But her brother Rob brings the family farm to life so that all Eva’s friends can come together safely to watch it as normal.

Bangor band The Darkling Air, which features Michael Keeney and Rachel McCarthy, provided the soundtrack with their song ‘Globe Lights’.

The track is taken from their second album ‘Ancestor’ which was shortlisted for the NI Music Prize Album of the Year.

The Darkling Air’s Michael Keeney told Belfast Live: “We are thrilled to have the track used on the Toy Show promo.

“I know from growing up in Donegal what an institution the Toy Show is and it’s a pleasure to be associated with it.

“I think in the year we have all had, anything that brings a little bit of cheer can only be a good thing.”
