RTE Late Late Show viewers say three guests 'missing' from season finale special

Tonight was the Late Late Show’s 60th anniversary special as well as the season finale as Ryan Tubridy was joined in the studio by a huge number of guests.

From Oscar-nominated Kerry actor Jessie Buckley to Dublin singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy and impressionist Mario Rosenstock it was a jam-packed evening.

Sitting in the audience were many guests who have frequented the RTE studio over the years like Clannad’s Moya Brennan, Altan’s Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Christy Dignam, and Billy McGuinness from Aslan, as well as Shobsy and Lyra.

The praise for tonight’s show was streaming in on Twitter, however, there were a number of people left disappointed after expecting a surprise appearance from three people in particular.

Although mentioned throughout the show, Pat Kenny was nowhere to be seen, and viewers were taking to Twitter expecting to see the former Late Late host.

Another celebrity that viewers were hoping to see was Irish singer song-writer, Sinead O'Connor.

Among the reams of commentary on the show this evening was one viewer who wrote: “Congrats on 60 years, will Pat Kenny make an appearance? It would be bad form if he wasn’t invited.”

A second wrote: “Surely Pat Kenny will rear his head at some point?? There are a number of people missing from this lineup.”

Meanwhile, another viewer said: “It’s not the 60th birthday unless they have Sinead O’Connor on! #LateLateShow.”

A fourth added: “Congrats on 60 years. A performance from Sinead O’Connor is what this special is missing.”

Another guest missing from the show was Cervical Cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan, who could not attend the show this evening.

The love was pouring in for the mother-of-two online with one viewer among many writing: “I love Vicky Phelan. Sending her the very best. An inspiration to the nation. #LateLateShow #latelate.”
