RTE Late Late Show viewers say Friday night guest should replace Ryan Tubridy

Late Late Show viewers were in awe of one guest who appeared on the popular RTE show last night.

Baz Ashmawy, 47, charmed the audience with his interview with Ryan Tubridy during Friday night's episode. He spoke about his friend Johnny Aylward who passed away recently, his thoughts on becoming a grandfather, and the details of a recent confrontation with anti-refugee protestors.

The DIY SOS presenter saw major approval from viewers who felt he'd be the best person to replace Ryan who will be stepping down from the show in May. Fans took to Twitter to voice their support for Baz, the Irish Mirror reports.

One person said: "Baz should defo get the gig. He has the ability to go from serious to lighthearted and he's very likeable."

Another person added: "Can Baz host the #LateLate and run the country too? Legend!"

A third person said: "Hoping this is a secret ploy to announce Baz as the next presenter of the Late Late" Claire Byrne remains the odds-on favourite to take the Late Late reins next, while Sarah McInerney and Angela Scanlon also find themselves in the running.

"I think the best person will get the job and that’s the way it should be," he told The Independent. "It just so happens that the best three are women, ironically. But they should get it because they’re the best, not because they’re women."
