RTE Late Late Show viewers left 'speechless' after emotional roller coaster show

RTE Late Late Show viewers were left in tears after a "brave and inspirational" show on Friday night.

Viewers praised the words of Mick McCarthy, Andrew Porter, Andrew Fitzsimons and Amy Dunne as they opened up about their personal journeys through life.

However, one interview struck a chord with many, as Amy Dunne opened up about her experience with abortion at the age of 17 when she discovered her baby had a fatal foetal abnormality.

Amy, who was referred to as Miss D, throughout her court case, described her journey to England and how she never got to say goodbye to her baby.

She said: "I don't think I got to say goodbye… Like I wasn't given time."

She added: "That always hits me. My story has become like I have no emotion towards it anymore, but when it comes to that... Because it's real, it's something that I can't take back, and I was never given. I never got to hold her or see her face or say goodbye."

Amy said she loved her baby Jasmine as soon as she was conceived and was excited to raise her baby before she got the devastating news of her condition.

She said: "I have adored her since she was put into my stomach as a little coco pop, is what I called her, and all the way through the pregnancy and the delivery and even more so every day and every year that passes by.

"The older I get, the more I understand, the more I wonder and even the deeper my love gets, which I thought when somebody passes away it's the opposite way and as time goes by it gets easier, but it doesn't.

"Growing up and even writing the book and I'm the time of my life that I'm in, I'm in that age of the over 30s now where I'm coming into myself and knowing who I am and I'm understanding myself a lot better and I'm not okay with how I was treated and there's a lot of things I will never be able to get over, but I'll deal with and get on with life."

People praised Amy for her bravery and composure as she moved many viewers to tears with her story.

One person took to Twitter to say: "Speechless at the courage Amy Dunne came with tonight, her composure throughout almost reliving such a horrendous experience was exceptional".

A second said: "Amy Dunne is an inspirational woman. She was let down big time by the services or lack of in this country. She has come along way."

While a third said: "I think anyone who goes on the #LateLateShow #latelate is very brave. Twitter is horrendous at trying to pull them apart. Of course fortune favours the brave thankfully."

"Amy Dunne, what a strong woman, your voice and story should be heard everywhere. To say my eyes didn't water would be a lie", commented a fourth.
