RTE Late Late Show viewers claimed they had 'deja vu' as Louis Walsh's new boyband made their debut on Friday night.

The quintet is made up of Conor O’Farrell, 20, from Meath, Harry O’Connell, 19, and Conor David, 19, from Dublin, Neung Kelly, 20, from Carlow and Joshua Regala, 17, from Navan.

A second person said: "Next In Line sound very promising! Hopefully they’ll go and achieve big things! #latelateshow"

Some viewers at home said that the launch of another one of Louis Walsh's boybands on the Late Late Show brought back memories of the 90s when Boyzone launched on the same show.

One person wrote: "Am I in a time warp or something... Louis Walsh is trying to launch another boy band?! #LateLateShow

Another likened it to an episode of Reeling in the Years while one person said: "Awful sense of deja vu #LateLateShow"

Boyzone's first ever TV appearance on the The Late Late Show in 1993 that went down in TV history.

The group, who would go on to be one of the most successful bands in the UK and Ireland, appeared on the long-running chat show just days after being formed.

They performed a hilariously awkward dance routine to electro music for an unsuspecting audience that included then host Gay Byrne who said rather cynically afterwards: "We look forward to hearing from you when you're famous."

Boyzone went on to land six number one singles in the UK and nine number one singles in Ireland, as well as selling 25 million records worldwide over the span of their 26-year career before they split for good in 2019.
