RTE Late Late Show viewers hail 'amazing' Ireland rugby stars as they tell hilarious story behind viral video

RTE Late Late Show viewers have hailed Ireland's rugby squad as "amazing" after three of its members appeared on tonight's show with the much coveted Grand Slam trophy.

Last Saturday in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, the Irish team triumphed over competitors England to take home the Six Nations Grand Slam trophy. On tonight's Late Late Show, Irish rugby Andrew Porter, Josh van Der Flier, and Dan Sheehan revealed the full hilarious story behind the viral video of them gatecrashing Garry Ringrose's house earlier week.

When asked about winning the match on home turf in the Aviva, Andrew Porter told Ryan Tubridy: "It was great to be able to celebrate with our families, it was amazing to win in the Aviva Stadium with our families watching."

Josh van der Flier added: "We had a great few days, we were away from our families training for eight weeks. It was our dream to get the Grand Slam trophy, we're a really close group and it was great to celebrate the win over St Paddy's Day weekend, there was an unbelievable buzz."

Dan Sheehan, who was declared Man of the Match, said at it was a great week, and joked how all their dads went out on a party bus to celebrate afterward.

Footage emerged online of Andy Farrell's squad arriving at Ringrose's house on Monday evening, with some suggesting they were there because the Leinster star had refused to come out and continue partying. However, Sheehan revealed that was not the case and that they had dropped into the Ringrose house to sing Happy Birthday to the centre's mother.

He said: "It was Garry's mum's birthday so we decided we'd show up and sing her happy birthday in her kitchen. "Garry was with us.

"Garry was definitely with us. We ended up abducting his father as well," he joked.

Ireland defeated England 29-16 last Saturday to win their fourth Grand Slam. Social media viewers flocked to Twitter to praise the Irish team.

One person wrote on Twitter: "The three Rugby lads on tonight were super. Great guys, humble and without egos." A second said: "Well done lads, loved the Gary Ringrose video full story, Hilarious. Amazing team."

A third added: "These lads are credit to our country. Fair play to them. Great time to be Irish." A fourth added: "Howling after that video story. Great stuff lads, brilliant interview."
