RTE Late Late Show viewers emotional after poignant moment between Ryan Tubridy and Saoirse Ruane

RTE viewers got emotional during last night's Late Late Show which featured an appearance by brave Saoirse Ruane.

The 10-year-old Toy Show favourite and her parents sat down beside host Ryan Tubridy for a special interview on the couch.

Saoirse, from Kiltullagh in Co Galway, won the hearts of the nation in November 2020, as she bravely opened up about how she had to have her leg amputated after being diagnosed with a rare tumour.

Sadly, it was recently revealed that the youngster's cancer has returned.

But that didn't stop her radiating positivity and courage, in what came as a lesson to everyone at home, RSVP reports.

After a hugging host and pal Ryan Tubridy, Saoirse joined her proud mum and dad who told viewers about Saoirse's generosity and her love and willingness to help others. They also thanked the Irish public for their prayers and well wishes as Saoirse continues to overcome her illness.

Many emotional viewers took to social media to share their thoughts on the poignant feature.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Saoirse Ruane is one of the most special children you’re every likely to encounter. We can learn so much from her courage, from her ability to constantly think of others, while facing up to incredible challenges of her own."

Another added: "Beautiful young lady with wonderful parents every good wish and blessing."
