RTE Late Late Show responds to viewer making Dermot Bannon joke after last episode of the season

The final show in the current season of the Late Late aired on Friday night, with a host of famous faces joining Ryan Tubridy in studio.

The programme celebrated the 60th anniversary of the chat show, with Jessie Buckley, Dermot Kennedy and Mario Rosenstock all chatting with Ryan.

Sitting in the audience were many guests who have frequented the RTE studio over the years like Clannad’s Moya Brennan, Altan’s Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Christy Dignam, and Billy McGuinness from Aslan, as well as Shobsy and Lyra.

Many viewers at home enjoyed the show, despite the notable absence of certain faces like former host Pat Kenny.

While the official social media account for the RTE show was busy posting clips of guests on the night, it also took the time to respond to one viewer's joke.

The eagle-eyed individual took to Twitter to comment on the re-appearance of some rugs which have featured on the programme before.

Referencing how celebrity architect Dermot Bannon is a regular guest on the programme, they said: "Those #LateLate rugs have been on the show more than Dermot Bannon!"

However, the Late Late shared the quick-witted reply: "Not possible. #LateLate."
