RTE host Ryan Tubridy 'baffled' as he calls out Cabinet ahead of level five lockdown decision

Ryan Tubridy has called on Cabinet to meet today rather than waiting until Tuesday with the huge level five decision to be made.

Coalition leaders are to meet on Monday morning with Dr Tony Holohan to discuss NPHET's latest recommendation.

And the RTE Radio One host summed up the mood of the nation as he opened his show on Monday morning.

Tubridy said: "It's pretty dark and dank and wet and miserable here in Dublin although it was the same yesterday so maybe it was a portent of things to come.

"Got a sense of a national lockdown yesterday.

"Now, so the Cabinet are due to meet tomorrow, if we are heading towards level five would they not just meet today, just push it back a bit.

"Open on Monday because IF we are heading to level five, I wonder are we, it could be give us a level four instead of five."

The host added: "How the Cabinet is not meeting today baffles me."

The Government is meeting with Dr Tony Holohan this morning to discuss the latest recommendations.

A Cabinet meeting, as mentioned above, is not scheduled to take place until Tuesday at the moment but could be pushed forward.
