RTE First Dates favourite gives lovely update about date despite relationship not working out

Viewers across the country tuned in to RTE once again last night to catch the latest episode of First Dates to catch the latest set of couples.

The match making show once again delivered a wide range of couples that provided plenty of entertainment to dedicated fans of the show.

Last night fans instantly began to warm to Rachel O'Neill and Ben Butler who had a great rapport with eachother from the offset.

Ben feared at times that he was perhaps talking too much as he feared coming across awkward however viewers were totally bowled over by the pair's honesty as they opened up to eachother throughout the date.

Ben was applauded by viewers for offering such a friendly ear to Rachel who bravely opened up about her recent losses.

Naturally fans were absolutely delighted by the end of the show when decision time came and the pair both said that they would like to see eachother again romantically.

Unfortunately people were left a tad disappointed again after it was revealed that the pair saw eachother again but did not continue to date romantically.

While they've now both found happiness elsewhere but fans were given a lovely update on the pair's relationship.

Taking to Twitter after the airing of last night's episode Rachel wrote: "Can I say @bengbutler is a lovely human being. Very glad to have met him and he's wonderful."

And she added: "Alas, I found someone who I am very happy with. His name is Jack and he's fab."

Viewers took to social media to heap praise on the pair for how they came across on-screen.

One wrote: "It was lovely to see you both connect"

Another said: "Oooh ye were both gorgeous!"

A third added: "You guys played a blinder of a date in fairness. Couple of class humans!"
