RTE finally airing highly talked about documentary that viewers have waited months for

With the Covid-19 vaccine rollout in full swing, RTE is set to air a documentary called V-Day which charts the national rollout of the vaccine with all its highs, lows and frustrations.

V-Day will go behind the scenes showing us exactly what happened as the largest vaccine rollout kicked into gear at the start of 2021.

From the first delivery of vaccines in a health centre in Waterford to the first recipient of a Covid jab in the state, V-Day will be an unmissable watch.

The doc will also show just how much of a challenge it has been to get the vaccine to more remote parts of the country.

Dr Noreen Curtis said: "Inishbiggle, Co. Mayo, has a population of 16.

"The thought of having to transfer patients off the island to go somewhere else to get it done – it just couldn't have been done.

"The physical effort of going down a ladder and getting on to a boat – they just wouldn’t have been able for it".

The doc soon turns to Springtime, as other vulnerable groups, like the homeless, were set to receive the one-jab J&J vaccine.

We'll meet people like Rose, 82 and Tommy Lyons, 84, who met at 15 and have been married for 63 years.

We join them on their journey to the Grangegroman Primary Care Centre to get their first dose of the vaccine.

V-Day will air on Wednesday at 9:30 pm on RTÉ One.
