RTE explain why there's no new First Dates Ireland tonight as viewers wonder

The restaurant is open but the daters might look a bit familiar for eagle-eyed viewers of First Dates Ireland.

Originally, tonight's episode was supposed to be the season finale but RTE has rescheduled the last First Dates Ireland episode of season five, just before the episode was due to air.

As always, the beloved show was scheduled to air at 9.30pm on Thursday night but a rerun was shown instead due to ‘operational difficulties’.

In a statement, the broadcaster said: "Due to operational difficulties, tonight’s episode of First Dates will not be shown. It will be rescheduled for a later date. Apologies for any inconvenience. Tonight’s episode will be a repeat."

As viewers set down to watch tonight's episode, plenty of people were wondering why they were watching a repeat and not a new episode?

"Why an old episode of #FirstDatesIRL ?! What's going on?!," Can someone explain why @RTE2 has aired an old episode of #FirstDatesIRL tonight?" and "not even a bit of notice, what am I supposed to do now?" were some of the remarks left.

However, some viewers were focused on the positive with one First Dates Ireland fan saying: "Have I watched tonight’s show already? Yes. Am I going to watch it again? Also yes."
