RTE commissions new series of Marty Morrissey and Bernard O'Shea's reality show

Marty Morrissey and Bernard O’Shea will hit the road again in the new year after RTE commissioned a second series of their reality show.

Last year viewers were introduced to the unlikely duo over two Sunday night broadcasts as they tested out their survival skills and looked into the idea of the modern man.

They jetted to New York where Marty visited his old neighbourhood and tried to get to the bottom of international good grooming practices.

And RTE was so impressed with the reaction to Marty And Bernard’s Big Adventure they have brought the pair back, this time for three episodes.

For the second series they will be filming exclusively in Ireland and taking a small car on the road to see what “devilment” they can uncover.

Marty told the Irish Mirror: “We start filming in January which is a lovely thing for both of us.

“I am looking forward to working with Mr O’Shea again because we had so much fun the last time.

“Myself and Bernard are great friends now and, away from TV and all the dancing craic, we have remained close friends.”

Marty was speaking at the conferring of retired Dublin football manager Jim Gavin who was awarded an honorary doctorate at Dublin City University.

He paid tribute to Gavin’s incredible five-in-a-row achievement but also highlighted the pilot’s West Clare connections.

Marty said: “It was a great honour for Jim and for Dublin football. He has been an outstanding leader and to do five-in-a-row, which has never been done, is remarkable.

“And just listening to his words you can understand how he can inspire people to greatness.

“I am delighted for Jim and for his family and I am also delighted there is a strong West Clare connection through his parents. That has to have helped.

“It is going to be very difficult to follow him, but they have the panel and the players and the resources so who knows?”
