RTE Claire Byrne Live viewers hail Irish mum for 'calling it as it is' during debate

RTE Claire Byrne Live viewers have hailed an Irish mum who "called it as it is" during a discussion on the housing crisis.

Minister for State for Local Government and Planning Peter Burke TD was grilled during a heated debate on Ireland's spiraling housing crisis.

Mum Anita joined over video call saying it broke her heart to see her 30-year-old son give up on buying a home after trying to save up for several years.

Anita slammed the recent reports of an investment firm that bought an entire estate of Dublin houses in order to rent them out with prices beginning at €1,975 a month.

Viewers took to social media to praise the straight-talking mum who challenged Mr Burke during the debate.

One person said: "'Were not one of those families who has 40 K to give our kids for a deposit'. Not all hero's wear capes. What a legend she is."

Another person said: "Make Anita housing minister right now."

A third person said: "Give Anita Claire's job for a few weeks and we'd have some bricks and mortar. Hold their feet to the fire."

Another person added: "Fair play Anita call it as it is."
