RTE Claire Byrne Live viewers all saying the same thing after large gathering scenes across Ireland

RTE viewers were left saying the same thing after a heated debate on Claire Byrne Live last night.

Large crowds were seen gathering across the country after some of the hottest days of the year over the weekend.

In Dublin, images were widely circulated of areas of the city left trashed after the shimmering sun.

The same scenes were replicated in popular spots in both Cork and Galway.

And there was a backlash against local councils for failing to provide enough bins to cater for the large groups gathering in public places.

Dublin DJ Crossy kicked the debate off, saying that he hates the culture of shaming people for socialising, Dublin Live reports.

"This whole thing of taking your phone out, filming it, putting it up on Twitter, why are you putting it up on Twitter?" he asked.

"I saw someone taking a photo of two girls queuing up to go to the toilet... why?

"I've seen politicians, I've seen councillors, coming down and taking photos, like a photoshoot.

"Come on, you're in power. You should be ringing the councils."

And people had strong reactions on social media after the scenes, condemning litterbugs while also recognising the need for "more bins and loos" for the public to use,

One said: "People who litter are selfish and disgusting. Ireland has a long standing real problem with litter bugs, the sense of entitlement is disgraceful.

Another wrote: "Totally natural that young people want to meet up with friends and catch up but here is no excuse for littering and urinating in outdoor areas. It doesn't take much to bring your rubbish home or simply put it in a bin.

And a third said: "City councils and county councils need to get to the lead out and get more resources from central Government. The Government are the ones droning on about "an outside summer", if that's the case we need more bins and loos."

Here is the best of the social media reaction to last night's episode:
