RTE and BBC viewers all saying the same thing after 'cracker' ending to EastEnders

EastEnders aired the moment fans had been waiting for on Friday night, as killer Gray Atkins was finally exposed.

And fans are all saying that the Christmas special should now be a cracker after the great reveal.

Maia Dunphy tweeted: "Christmas #EastEnders !! Always a timely telly festive reminder that everything COULD BE WORSE!! Can’t wait for tomorrow."

Another said: "Goosebumps. What an ending."

One more added: "I’d say tonight’s #EastEnders is my favourite of the upcoming festive outings. The conversations and realisations are chilling, and they’re allowed the necessary time to be effective."

In the episode, Whitney Dean and Kheerat Panesar vowed to bring him down and have him sent to jail for the rest of his life.

As Whitney finally had proof that evil Gray had abused his wife Chantelle before her death a year ago, she was horrified as she realised it likely meant he killed her too.

What she wasn't expecting though was Kheerat's confession of how he'd suspected Gray for the crime all along, after Chantelle confided in him shortly before her death.

Fans may recall Kheerat and Chantelle had feelings for one another, and he tried to help her flee her husband - while he had no idea he was abusing her.

She was supposed to flee but tragically, Gray fatally attacked her and left her to die, with Kheerat devastated.

He tried to tell people that Gray had hurt Chantelle and was to blame for her death but no one believed him, and instead he looked guilty.

This summer, the men appeared to put their feud to bed and have been pretty much pals ever since.

But on Friday night, Whitney learned this was all a lie and Kheerat had been plotting against him ever since Chantelle died.

He still believes he killed her, but had no proof until Whitney showed him the devastating messages from the forum she found.

In the previous episode, she continued to try and access a domestic abuse forum that she realised Chantelle used in secret to open up on her abuse.

But what she found left her mortified, especially after Gray almost caught her out after finding her in his home.

The messages detailed both the physical and verbal abuse Chantelle suffered at home, with one sad message revealing Gray had called her a "b***h", an "idiot" and a "s**t", while another entry detailed the moment he punched her in the stomach.

When Kheerat claimed he knew something wasn't right at the time when Chantelle was alive, and couldn't prove it after her death, he said he had failed his plan.

But Whitney soon confessed she had proof to bring him down, showing him the messages before they both agreed he killed her.

Tearful, the pair vowed to team up to get him sent down for the crime, but Kheerat warned they couldn't do it yet as they needed proof he killed her, not just proof of the abuse.

But the stage is set, and Whitney and Kheerat are vowing to stop Gray's new partner Chelsea facing the same fate.

So will they get Gray found out in time, or will the pair find themselves in danger?

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
