RTE 2FM boss defends station after Louise McSharry 'disposed of' comments

RTE 2FM boss Dan Healy admitted he was blindsided by departing stars Louise McSharry and Keith Walsh’s public bashing of the station after they were axed.

Former breakfast star Keith made allegations of a “toxic” environment while Louise McSharry, who quit after 11 years, said she was left “feeling like trash”.

Defending the station’s cuts, Mr Healy, left, said: “This is the nature of this. And unfortunately it is tough.

“They chose to be personalities on stations like 2FM, and these are short contracts, and in most cases we give people quite a lot of notice when there are changes. We do our best, we really respect the talent.”

Referring to a recent Irish Independent article where Louise recently claimed she felt “disposed of” by her former bosses, he added: “I didn’t read the article.

“Ultimately I am in a professional situation with people I am very fond of, but at times you have to part company.

“The same way my boss isn’t bringing me to his house for dinner or going to rugby or hurling matches.”
