Rs 150 crore to make Chandigarh railway station world-class

CHANDIGARH: P K Krishnadas, PAC chairman, said the ministry has already allocated Rs 150 crore for developing Chandigarh railway station as world-class.

He inspected the city station on Friday and sought reasons for delay in starting the work to turn it world-class. Hari Mohan, senior DCM, replied, "Maps have been drawn, layout plans have been drafted, elevation plans prepared and the tenders have been floated to carry out the work.

A technical team from L&T is also present at the station to plan the next course of action for starting the work." The officials of Ambala division told the PAC that the project is likely to start by August. It will now be undertaken by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), which has Indian Railway Service of Engineers officers who are setting up a separate office of RLDA in Sector 17 from where the work will be monitored.
