Roz Purcell has hit back at 'important people' in the modelling industry who body shamed her

Roz Purcell has hit back at some "important people" in the modelling industry over claims about her legs.

The former Miss Universe Ireland winner has said that some have body shamed her in the past over her "chunky legs".

She blasted these comments on Instagram and said words like 'chunky' leave her suffering mental consequences, The Irish Mirror reports.

The 28-year-old model said: “Chunky. This is a word that’s been used to describe my legs multiple times by so many people friends and strangers- the first being someone really important in the modelling industry at the time and in return it become my inner monologue description for my legs.

“Even still, I have to stop myself from picking it out, when I first saw this pic of me I was like ugh my legs are so….Good at walking.

Roz, who is currently holidaying in Tokyo revealed that she is trying to change her mentality about her body one step at a time.

Posting a series of images of her trip to Shibuya, Tokyo, the Tipperary native said: “Jesus flying around Tokyo with these things (changing my negative talk to positive is something I have to work on still but it’s definitely more automatic now.)”

However, she also went on to warn her followers of the lasting effect body shaming comments can have on people.

The influencer and cok-book author, with almost 260,000 followers on Instagram explained: “Moral of the story is be careful what you say to others in fact I’m starting to realise good or bad just stop commenting on people’s aesthetics you don’t know what they will hold on to.

“It’s something I do without thinking and after thinking about it today, I’m going to make a conscious effort to stop.

“I still remember that person saying it to me and it overshadowed everything else. Anyway deep Sunday thoughts.”
