Royals will be watching Prince Harry 'very very closely' as he starts his new job

The Palace will be watching Prince Harry 'very very closely' as he starts his new mental health job, The Mirror's royal expert said.

Our Royal Correspondent Russell Myers told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat show that palace officials will be paying attention to make sure Harry is not 'trading off' the royal brand.

It comes after Harry was hired as 'chief impact officer' at the coaching and mental health firm BetterUp Inc, which is based in Silicon Valley.

When discussing the Duke of Sussex's new role, Russell told The Royal Beat: "He's going to be fabulously wealthy from things like this and attaching his brand.

"There is the argument that if he is ‘ Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex’ in all the published materials for (the royal family), is that trading off the royal brand which they said they wouldn’t do to uphold the values of The Queen?

"So it is very debatable at the moment. People at the Palace will be watching this very, very closely."

The royal couple previously agreed to uphold the Queen's values after stepping down as senior royals.

In a statement addressing 'Megxit', the Monarch said: "With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations.

"While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty."

She added: "Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family."

The royal couple previously expressed their wish to achieve 'financial independence' from 'The Firm'.
