Royals post sombre messages on Queen's 95th birthday

The Royal Family have posted sombre messages on their social media accounts to mark the Queen's 95th birthday with a quiet dignity during her time of mourning.

Her Majesty is having a low-key and private birthday this year, following the death of her husband Prince Philip.

She is, however, expected to be receiving visits from some family members - including Prince Andrew, Princess Ann and possibly one of her new great-grandchildren.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is understood to arrived back at his US home, while Prince Charles is reportedly at his cottage in Wales mourning his father's death.

Via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the official Royal Family social media accounts simply posted: "Today is The Queen’s 95th birthday.

"The Queen was born at 2.40am on 21 April 1926 at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London. She was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

"This year Her Majesty remains at Windsor Castle, during a period of Royal Mourning following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh."

Princess Anne, 70, and Zara Tindall, 38, could visit the Queen and bring Queen's great-grandchildren, Lena and Mia and Lucas, according to Bristol Live.

Meanwhile, The Mirror reports that Prince Andrew, granddaughter Eugenie and her newborn son August have already arranged a birthday walk with the Queen and her two new corgi pups.
