A man has been arrested after allegedly entering the grounds of Windsor Castle in a security breach.
The alleged intruder, aged in his 30s, was arrested close to the home of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The incident, which took place at lunchtime on Sunday, only came to light on Tuesday.
Sources say the man, described as “unwell”, was seen wandering the estate before being detained by security.
He was arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs.
A source played down the drama, confirming: “No weapons, no threats, no royal family members were in the Castle at the time."
The man was taken into custody without incident.
He was quickly detained by officers the Met Police Royal and Specialist Protection Command, who have responsibility for security within the castle.

He was taken into custody and extensive checks were carried out into his background.
The suspect was handed over to Thames Valley Police, the local force who cover the area outside the castle’s perimeter.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police, said: “At just after 1pm on Sunday 1 June a man entered restricted grounds at Windsor castle.
“He was quickly challenged by Met police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle.
“He has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing."
