Royal Regiment parades through town to mark 100th anniversary of heroes returning from war

Soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Scotland  parade through Linlithgow at the Marches today to mark the 100th anniversary of local men returning from the Great War.

The Deacons Court and West Lothian Council  invited the regiment to march through the town as part of the annual celebration.

It marked 100 years since the soldiers were invited by the then Town Council to participate in the 1919 Marches celebrations. They paraded through the town with the procession that year.

Some with 250 officers from the Royal Regiment, their Shetland pony mascot, two bands and the colours led  the Marches Day procession.

And the salute was taken by Major General Bob Bruce, Colonel of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, accompanied by John Cunningham, Provost Tom Kerr, Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian Moira Niven and other dignitaries.
