Royal Navy sailors caught performing a sex act with an eight ball at a family pub won't face criminal charges.
The personnel based at RNAS Culdrose have, though, been banned from the Red Lion in Helston, Cornwall, and nearby boozers.
CCTV taken in the pool room there in February appeared to show a man attempting to insert the ball into the backside of another man - within sight of other customers.
Devon and Cornwall Police investigated the clip.
Now Cornwall Live says four men have been let off with a caution in relation to the incident.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "All four men, aged 22, 22, 26 and 30, attended Helston Station in April and accepted cautions for outraging public decency in relation to this matter.
"They were also given Pubwatch bans."
The Royal Navy launched an internal investigation following the incident but has refused to say if any disciplinary action was taken against the men.
A Royal Navy spokesperson said: “The matter has been dealt with by the civil police and any administrative action is a matter between the individual and their employer.”
A Royal Navy document entitled ‘serious disciplinary and personal incident reporting form’ was leaked to the media. It stated that a petty officer had been “removed from flight safety critical issues due to the stress and distraction of impending impact on him”.
It added that the group were “generally rowdy and disruptive throughout the period in the Red Lion pub and several other incidents of a lesser nature were also captured on CCTV”.
The Red Lion said the town has a close relationship with RNAS Culdrose and feared coverage of the incident could tarnish the reputation of its sailors.
The pub posted on Facebook : "We would also like to make it clear that we as a public house and Helston as a town have a close relationship with Culdrose and navy personnel & think it’s awful that this (Daily Mail) article is attempting to tarnish the reputation they uphold!!"
