The Royal Mail is releasing a set of rare commemorative military coins to celebrate 50 years of the 50p.
50p coins depicting the anniversaries of the Battle of Britain, D-Day landings, Victoria Cross and Battle of Hastings all feature in special anniversary uncirculated set, Chronicle Live reports .
A special collection of commemorative military coins will be struck to mark the anniversary of the seven-sided coin, first introduced in 1969.
This coin set recalls some of the most epic battles from Britain’s past, the nation’s military achievements and the courage of those who served. However the set will not be in general circulation, you will have to buy it online .
Spanning almost one thousand years of history, the military set includes five 50p coins marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, 50 years since the D-Day Landings, 150 years since the Victoria Cross was introduced and the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.
The Battle of Hastings coin became highly sought after by collectors after its initial release.
