Royal Mail: We will keep delivering

ROYAL Mail pledged it will keep delivering, despite the uncertainty caused by Covid-19.

With most of the nation, particularly the vulnerable and those living alone, reliant on the service, the company said it would protect “our people and the communities we serve”.

Chief executive Rico Back said: “Postal services are a key part of national infrastructures.”

He added: “We are delivering the parcels and letters that are a lifeline for those who cannot leave their homes.”

To preserve cash, it won’t pay a final dividend. It still expects profit for the year of between £300 million and £340 million.

The shares, which floated at 330p, today fell 9% to 148p. The board has suspended guidance to the City for 2020-21 “and beyond”.
