Royal Mail's chief executive is coming to Exeter

The chief executive of Royal Mail is visiting the South West - and he'll be spending a couple of days in Exeter.

Rico Back will be visiting from the capital as part of a whistle stop tour to centres around the area, including Plymouth.

Exeter has been chosen as the location for this year's annual general meeting (AGM) of the company - which Joe Massey, the service delivery leader for Devon and Cornwall, said was "fantastic".

The sixth AGM of Royal Mail will be held at the Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel on Thursday July 18, with shareholders invited.

Mr Massey said: "We've decided quite rightly [to hold the AGM in Exeter] - we are a network organisation, we represent the UK, GLS is our international company and what we've tried to do is move it outside [of London] and in [to local areas] to give more access to our shareholders.

"We will continue to move it around the UK - I think we're very fortunate that they're coming to Exeter - it's good for us, it's good for us as a team - it's more about accessibility to our shareholders - our posties are shareholders.

Mr Massey added that Mr Back would be "talking to real people about real issues" regarding Royal Mail at the AGM.
