Royal Mail launches Letters to Santa scheme: How to get free reply from Father Christmas

Sending a letter to Santa is a Christmas tradition that has stood the test of time for good reason.

Not only does writing to Father Christmas make the event that little bit more special for kids, but it also gives parents an idea of what presents their little ones would like to open on Christmas Day.

While one option is to send a list scrawled down on a bit of tissue paper up the chimney, did you know you can also send a letter to the big man in the post and get a reply from the "North Pole"?

The Royal Mail has recently launched its free Write to Santa scheme for 2020, which proves hugely popular with families every year.

How to use the service

To use the service, you will need to get your little one to write a letter with their full name and address.

Once the letter is finished, pop it into an envelop with a stamp and send it to Santa's 'address' provided by Royal Mail, which can be seen below.

You will need to do this by December 11 so that it reaches Santa in time for Christmas.

Father Christmas advises children and their parents to:

  • Write Santa's address carefully on the envelope
  • Put a stamp on the envelope so it gets to me
  • Include your full name and address in your letter

"It's nearly Christmas, and we know you want to make sure that your letter to Santa Claus gets to him," Royal Mail explains on its Letters to Santa site.

"Please remember, as Santa says: get your letter posted by Friday 11 December."

Address

Once the letter is written up, you'll need to send it to the below address:

Santa/Father Christmas,
Santa's Grotto,
Reindeerland,
XM4 5HQ
