Royal Mail is looking for temporary Christmas workers in Bristol

With the festive season just months away, Royal Mail is on the lookout for seasonal workers in Bristol to help cover the busy period.

As Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail with so many parcels and letters passing through their warehouse, the company is looking to attract a host of new staff.

Temporary flexible workers are needed to help get everyone their Christmas letters and presents to their destinations, and Royal Mail is currently advertising its available jobs in Bristol.

The roles are based at Bristol Mail Centre in Gloucester Road and the Bristol Sorting Centre in Westerleigh Business Park. Applicants will be considered for both sites.

Below is information about the two seasonal jobs that Royal Mail is currently hiring for.

Seasonal Mail Sorters - South West Distribution Centre (Bristol)

Job description: "Processing of parcels and containers takes place in the Regional Distribution Centres (RDC).

"Within the RDC, operations include cross docking – which can be road to rail as well as road to road, parcel processing, bulk mail processing, mail consolidation and the processing of mail order returns.

"RDCs are 24 hour-7 day a week operations. The role involves working as part of a friendly team to achieve tight deadlines."

Pay

£11.40 p/h (days) to £13.70 p/h (nights).

Shift patterns

Most sites offer a range of shifts, so finding one that suits you should be simple. Typical shift patterns include:

  • Earlies: Monday to Thursday 06:00 - 14:00 or Monday to Friday 10:00 - 18:00
  • Lates: Monday to Thursday 14:00 - 22:00 or Monday to Friday 18:00 - 06:00
  • Nights: Monday to Thursday 22:00 - 06:00
  • Weekends: Friday to Sunday, 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00 or 22:00 - 06:00

Seasonal Mail Sorters - Bristol (Filton & Yate)

Job description: "Just like Mr & Mrs Claus, you’ll play a key role in bringing Christmas to people across the UK! As a Mail Sorter, you’ll be unloading mail and parcels from our vans, moving them through our warehouses and ensuring that they arrive at their destination safely.

"During a single shift, you could sort over a million items with your team! It’s a very important role so flexibility, commitment and enthusiasm are key."

Pay

£11.40 p/h (days) to £13.70 p/h (nights).
