Royal Mail delays - Full list of postcodes impacted this Christmas

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding (Royal Mail/PA) - (PA Media)

Royal Mail has released an updated list of postcodes that are likely to face delivery delays in the days leading up to Christmas.

The postal service has apologised to customers at 92 postcodes after explaining that mail volumes doubled over the Christmas period, causing delays.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

The announcement comes after Royal Mail received a £21 million fine by Ofcom in November, after the company failed to meet its 2024/2025 targets. Only 77 per cent of first class and 92.5 per cent of second class mail was delivered on time, significantly below its targets of 93 per cent and 98.5 per cent.

It was the third-largest fine ever imposed by the communications watchdog.

Royal Mail said that some of its offices may not be able to deliver to all the addresses due to many people being off sick, resourcing, and other factors.

Angry customers have taken to social media to voice their frustration.

One customer, Anne, said: “@BootsUK do you realise that you carrier @RoyalMail has sorting offices in chaos with parcels mounting up and no one to deliver.

“Tracking is non existent and you believe your customers have their goods.
