Royal Mail customers urged to look out for delivery scam

Royal Mail customers have been warned to look out for a delivery scam that has begun making the rounds reports The Mirror.

The scam sees customers receiving an email from Royal Mail claiming that a letter or parcel for you has been undelivered and you need to pay a small amount for it to be redelivered.

And it seems that other delivery companies have also been victims of scammers as DPD customers have received similar emails to that of Royal Mail customers.

Digital Privacy Expert at ProPrivacy, Ray Walsh, told the Mirror: "Anybody who receives an email claiming to be from the Royal Mail must remember that they will not ever be asked to pay a redelivery fee.

"Never input your bank or card information after following a link on any emails that claims it is from the Royal Mail, because it will result in your card details being stolen by criminals."

If this is a scam that you feel you may have fallen for then you need to contact your band and check your statements for any transactions that you do not recognise or that you have not authorised.

He went on to say: "Although this Royal Mail scam has only been reported locally so far, it will almost certainly spread nationwide due to Back Friday and online Christmas shopping.

"For this reason, it is vital for consumers to be watchful for any attempts to make them part with their payment details for re-delivery of any letter or package."
