Royal Mail are hiring 20,000 workers to help deliver Christmas - how to apply

In a festive season stricken by shortages, someone’s got to do the job.

This year Royal Mail are hoping to hire 20,000 seasonal workers this year to help deliver tonnes of Christmas presents and shopping.

The entire operation requires seasonal workers in mail centres, distribution hubs and data centres, including 1,800 in Scotland, 17,150 in England, 650 in Wales and 500 in Northern Ireland.

This workforce of thousands will be needed to carry Christmas cards, gifts and shopping to merrymakers.

Royal Mail are hiring in Scotland through recruitment website Blue Arrow . Current job listings are looking for workers across Scotland including but not limited to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Paisley, Fife, Perth and Galashiels.

For example, workers hoping to earn some Christmas cash can apply for a role at the Livingston and Bathgate depots.

The locations are hiring Christmas postal delivery drivers to work four to six hours per shift over five days a week at up to £14.05 an hour.

Parcelforce, which is owned by the Royal Mail, are also looking to fill seasonal jobs this Christmas, for an additional 3,650 workers in their hub in Heathrow and within data inputting roles across the country.

Royal Mail chief people officer Zareena Brown said: "Our seasonal workforce is incredibly important to our operation and we very much look forward to welcoming those who return year after year as well as those who may be joining us for the first time.

"Being part of delivering Christmas is a brilliant experience and one that we know offers lots of opportunities for employment and engagement in the communities we serve."
