Royal International Air Tattoo 2026 cancelled by organisers – here’s why

  • Organisers of The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) have announced the cancellation of this year’s event amid the conflict in the Middle East .
  • According to the RIAT’s website, the decision “follows extensive discussions with the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force regarding uncertainty over access to RAF Fairford” due to the current situation in the region.
  • The organisers have reassured ticket holders that they can claim a refund, use their tickets at next year’s event or “donate the cost of their tickets to the RAF Charitable Trust.”
  • Chief executive officer of Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises, Gavin Gager, said: “We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2027, and to making sure RIAT comes back stronger than ever.”
  • A fixture since 1971, the air show takes place at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire.
