The Royal Household Bureau on Friday issued an announcement regarding the royal bathing rites and public paying of respects to the late Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.
The bureau said His Majesty the King has graciously granted permission for members of the public to participate in royal mourning ceremonies as follows:
1. Royal bathing rites
Members of the public are permitted to take part in the royal bathing rites before the portrait of the princess, which will be placed at the Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion within the Grand Palace. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 13, from 8.30am to noon.
2. Paying respects and signing a book of condolence
The public may pay their respects before the portrait of the princess at Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion in the Grand Palace daily from 8.30am to 4pm, beginning on Sunday, June 14. A royal book of condolences will also be available at the venue for the public to sign.
3. Paying respects to the royal remains
Following the completion of the initial 15-day period of royal merit-making rites, the public will be allowed to pay respects to the royal remains at Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall. This will be open daily from 9am to 9pm, starting on Saturday, June 27.
4. Sponsorship of funeral chanting ceremonies
His Majesty has also graciously granted permission for members of the royal family, privy councillors, the Cabinet, government agencies, state agencies, state enterprises, private sector organisations and the public to jointly sponsor funeral chanting ceremonies following the completion of the first 100 days of royal merit-making rites.
The entire nation plunged into grief on Friday when the Royal Household Bureau announced the passing of the princess.
HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha passed away peacefully at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok at 7.48pm on Thursday despite receiving continuous medical care from a team of doctors.
The princess had been hospitalised since Dec 15, 2022, after collapsing due to a heart-related condition while training her pet dog in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima province the previous day.
