Royal Fans Surprised As Harry Travels Without Meghan Markle

Royal watchers were left puzzled after Prince Harry made a surprise solo visit to Angola without Meghan Markle or their children, Archie and Lilibet, by his side. The Duke of Sussex quietly touched down in Luanda and dived straight into a packed itinerary, supporting landmine clearance work — a cause close to his heart.

While the visit itself was praised, especially among those following his humanitarian efforts, fans were quick to notice Meghan’s absence. Many had expected her to join Harry on such a meaningful trip, particularly one so linked to his late mother, Princess Diana’s legacy.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source claimed that Harry made the decision to leave Meghan behind due to safety fears. “The Duke won’t let his wife go to England over security concerns, so there was no chance he’d allow her to go to Angola to walk across landmines,” they said.

It’s not the first time security has come up as a major issue for the couple. Harry has previously voiced deep concerns about the safety of Meghan and their children when travelling, especially to the UK. In an interview with the BBC, he opened up about his reluctance to bring his family back to Britain without proper protection, saying it simply wasn’t worth the risk.

So while it may have raised eyebrows, the decision to go solo this time seems in line with Harry’s cautious stance when it comes to his family’s security.

The trip itself, however, was a success. Harry’s visit wasn’t just symbolic — he got stuck into meetings and field visits straight away. The Halo Trust, a landmine clearance charity long supported by the prince, welcomed his presence.

James Cowan, CEO of The Halo Trust, spoke about the impact of Harry’s involvement and his meeting with Angola’s President. “It was an honour to have an audience with His Excellency President Lourenço today alongside Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex to discuss HALO’s continued demining efforts in Angola,” he said.

“We thanked him for his extraordinary dedication to and investment in the vision of a mine-free country, and he expressed his intention to continue to support our work with a further significant contract for the next three years. Our partnership is strengthened and renewed, and we are grateful to President Lourenço for his leadership on this critical issue.”

The visit echoed Diana’s famous trip to Angola in 1997, where she brought global attention to the dangers of landmines. Harry has continued her legacy through years of support for The Halo Trust and landmine removal initiatives.

Still, his choice to leave Meghan and the children at home has reignited conversation about the couple’s strained relationship with public life and ongoing concerns about security. While Harry remained focused on the mission at hand, many royal fans are once again wondering when — or if — they’ll see the whole Sussex family step out together for a major engagement again.
