Prince George experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during England's Euro 2020 final defeat last night.
The seven-year-old was seen proudly celebrating with his parents when Luke Shaw put England ahead against Italy just minutes into the game.
But after Italy equalised and England went on to lose a penalty shoot-out, the young prince looked gutted and summed up the mood of the country as the Three Lions fell at the final hurdle.
However, royal fans spotted a sweet moment between Prince George and his mum, the Duchess of Cambridge, during the tense match- and they could not have been more thrilled.
After England scored their goal inside just two minutes, the youngster was caught on camera giving his mother and his dad Prince William a big hug in a rarely seen display of affection - delighting royal watchers.
One wrote on Twitter : "One of the sweetest royal moments ever! It’s not surprising that the babies are such cuddle monsters. With W&K as their parents, the little ones will grow up just as affectionate."

Another said: "Seeing St George, sorry Prince George give a hug to mum and dad was the best thing I’ve seen all year."
While another posted: "It’s nice to see the pure joy on Prince George’s face. I also can’t help it - that hug between him and his mom brings to mind photos of Princess Diana with young William and Harry."
The royals were among the 60,000 fans packed into Wembley for last night's final.

George looked adorable in a formal suit and tie, matching his dad. Meanwhile, Kate wore black trousers and a white blazer.
After the match, Prince William, who is president of the English FA, took to Twitter and described the loss as heartbreaking.
He said: "Heartbreaking. Congratulations @Azzurri on a great victory. @England, you've all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn't our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves - I know there's more to come."
Meanwhile, the England manager Gareth Southgate revealed that William visited the England team in the dressing room after the game to console them after their crushing defeat.
He said: "At the moment the players are, understandably, really quiet.
"The Duke (of Cambridge) has been down to see them in the dressing room and has rightly thanked them for what they've done and been fulsome in his praise."
