Royal family under Prince Charles and Prince William will be slimmed down to just seven people

The monarchy is set to be slimmed down with just seven royals in the family, it has been reported.

When Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, or Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, ascend to the throne, the make up of the Royal Family will change.

It will feature them both, as well as their prospective wives, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

There is no place for Meghan Markle or Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, however, according to a royal expert.

Harry and Meghan's Megxit will be seemingly confirmed when the make up of the monarchy shifts under Charles and William, reports Birmingham Live.

Charles is reportedly stepping up to be 'quasi King' in the wake of the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip's death.

The Mail Online reports a slimmed-down version could see just Charles, Camilla, William, Kate, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte as senior royals.

Royal biographer Angela Levin told talkRADIO: "Prince Charles has wanted for a very long time to cut the monarchy down to save costs and to make people be worth the money that they got from the taxpayer.

"I imagine that might be when Harry and Meghan are ditched from being members of the Royal family.

"I think the outer edge, which the Queen has wanted to keep together for a very long time for sentimental reasons, which at her age she didn't really particularly want change which I think is understandable.

"But he wants to change and I think he will do that."
