Royal Family: Kate and William reveal name of 'secret' family dog

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a huge move ahead of them. This summer, Kate, William, and their three children will be upping sticks and moving from the hustle and bustle of London to the much quieter Berkshire.

The Cambridges' decision to move was made with the Queen in mind, as the family will be moving to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate. Her Majesty has been living at Windsor Castle since the pandemic and the death of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

It is also believed that George, Charlotte, and Louis play a big part in the decision to move, which will allow them to play in the great outdoors more often than they could in London. With approximately 4,500 acres of sweeping parkland, ancient woodland, and forest trails to explore, the Cambridges' dog will surely have a grand time, too.

This week, the four-legged friend of the Cambridges excited fans of The Firm when she was brought to an event by the Duke and Duchess. After keeping the spaniel out of the public eye since they got her a few years ago, Kate and William finally revealed the name of their beloved companion.

Kate and William took Orla, as they have now revealed the English cocker spaniel is called, to the Royal Charity Polo Cup 2022 at Guards Polo Club. Kate could be seen drinking a glass of Pimm's as she stroked the sweet black canine.

Tragically, the Cambridges lost their much-loved English cocker spaniel, Lupo, in November 2020. Before Lupo sadly passed away, James Middleton, Kate's younger brother, gave Orla to the family, with the Mail Online reporting the family's love for their new pet.

A source told the publication: "The new puppy is adorable and the whole family are besotted. They were devastated when Lupo passed away, as any dog owner will understand, but got the new puppy before he died.

"It was hoped that a younger dog would give Lupo some company and give him a little more life and energy."

In May 2020, James announced that his dog, Luna, who was the sister of Lupo, had welcomed 'six healthy pups'. James shared that the puppies 'all [had] lovely homes waiting for them', so he would not be keeping them himself.

The sad news of Lupo's death was shared by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on November 22, 2020. They paid tribute to their beloved family member on social media, writing: "Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away.

"He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much." Lupo was first welcomed into the family in 2012, and was there when Kate and William brought all three of their children home for the very first time.

Several years after the couple got Lupo, it was revealed that Kate and William brought him into their family to help them through a challenging time, as William was set to head to the Falkland Islands for a six-week-long deployment. Their furry friend featured in many family photos over the years, including in a photograph of Prince George when he was much younger, as he tried feeding Lupo an ice cream, and in the first family photograph of Kate, William, and George.
