The Treasury Department will accept orders for special coins commemorating King Rama IX's cremation at banks and state financial institutions from Aug 22 to Sept 30.

Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong said on Monday the department would mint four kinds of the commemorative coins.

Gold coins would be available at 50,000 baht each, silver at 2,000 baht, a smoked sandblast copper coin at 3,000 baht, and nickel at 100 baht.

People who place orders will receive their coins at the place of their order from Jan 29 next year.

The front would have an image of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in full dress uniform, the robe of the Royal House of Chakri, the Most Illustrious Order of the Royal House of Chakri and a Chulachomklao breast chain. The late king's name would be at the bottom.

On the reverse side would be an image of the royal crematorium, the initials of the late king and the words royal cremation and the date of the ceremony, Oct 26, 2017, in Thai.

Patchara Anuntasilpa, director-general of the Treasury Department, said Thai citizens could order the commemorative coins at the department's provincial branches, banks and state financial institutions.
