The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) launched on Monday the "Safar" group art exhibition that celebrates the natural cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia's AlUla.

The exhibition also collects global artistic creations inspired by the heritage of AlUla through various details that combine artistic expressions and include the arts of sculpture, photography, textiles, and graphics.

The arts are of great importance in AlUla’s vision given that it is one of the main pillars of the RCU, which achieves the directives of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RCU, towards developing AlUla, protecting its natural heritage and sharing its cultural history with the world.

The "Safar" exhibition highlights the unique legacy of AlUla with the various artistic initiatives previously announced, the latest of which was "Valley of Art".

The exhibition includes 64 artworks, created by 25 artists from the Kingdom and abroad, in addition to a group of local craftsmen from the "Deira School". The works will be displayed in the executive hall and the internal hall at AlUla International Airport to form an artistic tale that recounts the heritage, history, present and future of AlUla.

Nora Al-Dabal, executive director of Arts and Creative Industries at the RCU, explained that the "Safar" group exhibition is an extension of the Commission’s efforts in the culture and arts sector.

It also reflects AlUla's historical connection with arts, and represents an important added value to the series of global events that were held and supervised by the Commission, including "Desert X AlUla", the "Cortona on the Move" festival, and the announcement of the launch of the "Valley of Art".

Al-Dabal added that the establishment of the Safar Art Group exhibition connects visitors to AlUla to its new chapter as a center for creativity and arts, which is an integral part of the identity and name of AlUla.

Arts in AlUla will play a major role in achieving the future vision aimed at building a cultural economy, she stressed.
